The water industry is highly regulated. The prices IWNL are allowed to charge and the quality of customer services we provide to customers, is regulated by Ofwat.

How is IWNL regulated?

Ofwat Logo IWNL is regulated by Ofwat (The Water Services Regulation Authority) which is the economic regulator of the water and sewerage industry in England and Wales.

IWNL are appointed by Ofwat on a site by site basis to provide water services; this is known as a New Appointment and Variation (NAV).

What does Ofwat do?

Ofwat protects the interest of consumers, by wherever appropriate promoting effective competition.

Ofwat regulate the charges water companies can levy and as an IWNL customer, we guarantee that your charges will be no higher with us than they would be if you were being supplied by the regional water supplier. Our charging scheme for your area can be found on our website here.

Ofwat also ensures water companies provide value for money and monitor and compare the services that companies provide, to ensure that competition is fair.

The quality of water that IWNL supplies is monitored by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) and is subject to the same requirements as all other water companies.

As an IWNL customer, the Ofwat website lists IWNL as being the appointed supplier for your area. This can be found here.

The Ofwat website also has a list of all NAV appointments. This can be found here.
